How to use Lexapro Antidepressants

Lexapro antidepressant should be taken once every day. Lexapro can be taken with or without food and can be taken in the morning or evening, whichever is most convenient.

Lexapro is well tolerated by most patients.

Precautions

Drug Interactions

Lexapro is an antidepressant that has a low risk of interacting with other medications in general.

The exception is the family of antidepressants called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Lexapro and MAOIs should not be taken together or within 14 days of each other. Caution is indicated in taking Lexapro antidepressants with tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). As with other psychotropic drugs that interfere with serotonin reuptake, patients should be cautioned regarding the risk of bleeding associated with the concomitant use of Lexapro with NSAIDs, aspirin, or other drugs that affect coagulation.

Lexapro Overdose

If an overdose of Lexapro antidepressant is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Lexapro antidepressant, take the missed dose that same day as soon as you remember, then call your healthcare professional or doctor for more information. The next day, resume according to your regular dosing schedule.

Doubling a daily dose to compensate for a missed dose of Lexapro antidepressantis not recommended.
